Nicky Enright, Sprachtraum (Language Dream), Sprachsalon, Berlin, 2014
Wall painting incorporating mixed media framed and unframed works

Created for two walls at the entrance of Sprachsalon language school in Berlin, Sprachtraum (Language Dream) was inspired by numerous scripts including Chinese, Arabic, Hebrew, Russian, Tigrinya, Hieroglyphics, and the Roman alphabet, as well as invented scripts. Together these elements become a linear meditation on the abstract drawing that forms the basis of written communication. This wall painting evokes the exquisite confusion of language learning and the dreamlike state of holding many languages in one's head simultaneously.
